Many cruise ships have areas set aside that are designed especially for children, often divided into age groups. Some of these areas are even staffed by members of the cruise staff that have been trained and certified in childcare, so that you and your spouse are free for few hours for some adult time, without the children. It is a good idea to do your own research, rather than just assume that every staff member is qualified to care for your children. Ask to see certification documentation, and find out how many children will be left in charge with one staff member, so that you will have a better idea of what kind of attention your child will receive. You can request that your child not be permitted to do certain activities, but if you are really concerned, you may not want to leave your child here.

To minimize the length of time that everyone has to spend confined in the car, try to find a cruise that will be departing from a port that is near to you. All of this information will be available to you either on the cruise website, or when you call to make your reservations.

When going on a family cruise, it is important not to leave anyone out of the final considerations. If you have small children, then you should choose a family oriented cruise, with lots of age appropriate activities available. Everyone should have fun on your cruise vacation, both the adults, and the children. This is your time to spend time with each other, and do something fun all at the same time, so take advantage of it, and use it wisely.
